Loamward is a slow, hands-on sandbox. There are no quests telling you where to go. You start in Alderbrook with a few tools, and the rest of the island is yours to work: every hill can be dug down, every forest cut, every field tilled. Skills grow by doing, and what you make is only as good as the hands that made it.
Shape the ground
Dig, level and flatten the land tile by tile. Tunnel into the hills and follow the ore veins underground.
Craft with skill
Smelt and smith, carve and saw, fire clay and cook. Quality comes from your skill, your tools and your materials.
Build and settle
Plan houses piece by piece and raise them with your own boards and nails. Found a settlement, hire guards, keep it standing.
Live off the land
Farm crops by the season, forage and botanize, keep bees, tame animals, ride horses, and trade what you make.
One island, sixteen kilometres across
The world is a single large island with its own coves, peninsulas and offshore isles, sailable all the way round.
- Mountain ranges rising to 1,524 m, with bare rock above the tree line.
- Two dozen river systems winding to the sea, with lakes on their way.
- Around ninety ponds tucked into hollows at every height.
- Forests of oak, pine, willow, birch and orchard trees that grow, seed and fall.
- Seasons that turn with the real calendar: snow in winter, golden woods in autumn.
- Thousands of animals, from sheep and horses to wolves and bears.
Join the alpha
Loamward is in an open alpha on a single server: anyone is welcome to play and test. Expect rough edges, changes, and the odd world wipe.
- Download the game from itch.io (Windows, about 8 GB). Installing through the itch app keeps you on the latest build by itself.
- Choose a name and make your character on the game's landing page.
- Press Play online to join the alpha server. Your character is tied to this install, so keep the game folder.
